To begin with, I'll tell you something about my own circumstances for context. I'm in my early fifties, in good shape (like to work out), eat well, decent looking, and have a good job (remote software developer). Also, I speak and read Portuguese rather well (I read in Portuguese: history, novels etc.).

Brazilian chicks are much closer to Americans than you might expect. Especially the ones that are educated and somewhat well-off. THOSE women don't accept a large age gap. However, there is a big difference between girls of that sort and the other 70% of the Brazilian population. Brazilians often speak about there being "two" Brazils. Large social differences lead to large divergences in behavior, and including dating behavior.

My most recent girlfriend was 22 and I'm 52. She had no problem with my age difference. She was from a city about four hours outside Fortaleza. I'll be frank: she was not stupid, but she was very uneducated. If you're similarly situated to me: this is the type of girl that is going to go for you in this area of Brazil.

It is important to note that some of the most attractive and humble women I met came from cities OUTSIDE Fortaleza proper. Sometimes they were within an hour of Fortaleza, or maybe a suburb with a 30 minute drive.

I also want to clarify that I had a very different experience dating than I summarize on this page in 2001, 2002 and 2003: when I lived in Brazil when I was in my early thirties. That was twenty years ago. I was a different person then, and the times were different as well. Rio de Janeiro is not Fortaleza. At that time I was in Rio de Janeiro. That situation was very different than now. I got lots of well-educated chicks who were close to my age. In Rio, at least half the girls I dated spoke English quite well. Girls here are more humble, yet you won't find them speaking much English at all.
